Ellen's agency has incorporated a telework policy that allows employees to work from home. Ellen has never worked from a nontraditional office but would like to pursue the opportunity to telework. The agency policy encourages but does not require an initial trial period.

Ellen has approached her manager in the appropriate manner by preparing a written proposal. The plan addressed how she could be more productive and ways in which her manager could measure her productivity. She also indicated that her home has ample space and the necessary equipment to perform her work and she described ways in which she could maintain communication with her manager, coworkers, and clients.
